Woodwork

What do we offer that is different?

Very simply, Daedalus Crafts offers a bespoke service for pretty much anything involving wooden structures in your garden. We can do interior work as well, but garden structures are our passion.

Adrian is an engineer at heart and a problem solver and a designer to boot. There is almost nothing that you can dream up  for your garden that we can’t design a solution for.

And what differentiates us is that we don’t come with any pre-conceived ideas so we design according to your requirements, but most importantly to your budget.

We’ve been doing this for years for friends and family. They keep coming back!

Our biggest difference though? Reliability. Years of multi-million pound project delivery experience in many industries makes us fast, flexible and reliable. We NEVER work on multiple jobs at the same time and we ALWAYS deliver and ALWAYS communicate.

How do we work?

We pride ourselves on being open, honest and reliable.

Our approach is:

  • A telephone discussion about what the customer might want
  • A site visit, measure up and enough conversation to understand budgets and hope
  • Some simple options presented on email with approximate pricing
  • A video call to discuss options and refine requirements
  • Detailed budget proposals – itemised by materials and time
  • Agreement to proceed and agreed start date
  • Initial invoice to cover material procurement only
  • Turn up when we say we will
  • Do the work to the highest standard – checking along the way
  • Constant dialogue with the customer about progress
  • Fair and honest conversations about variations – if its our fault there is a change, you don’t pay extra!! We will always update pricing changes via email so there is 100% transparency
  • Completion and review with customer
  • Final invoice
  • Brief visit if required to check on settling in of the work

Portfolio

Custom deck

Custom deck replacement. On mixed ground and down a significant and varying gradient. Customer steps and sectional anti-slip to save money. External pipework, planters and shelves made for customer’s pot plants. Smart dusk to midnight deck lighting provided and integrated into customers Google Home apps.

Custom tool store

Customer wanted a garden tool store but hated the quality and cost of ones online. Mixed materials used to suit customer specification – worked out a similar cost to the lower quality online tool stores but will last for years!

Car port replacement

Customer had an existing rotten car port adjoining a house and external garage. New structure, roof and guttering provided.

Large deck

From blank ground to massive deck in 2 days. Customer wanted it to project over a nature pond. All it needs is some lighting – but the external power was too far away. The deck goes back a long way!

Large side gates

Replacement side gates for a large semi-detached house. Needed to be well balanced for ease of open / close. Rear view of gate elsewhere on this site.

Raised salad planter

Customer wanted an easy access salad garden which could be dismantled and moved to another property easily at a later time. There are no bolts and only a small handfull of screws in the structure – traditionally jointed.

Small deck replacement

A very rotten but much loved deck replaced like for like in 3 hours – anti-slip used on alternate boards to cut costs.

Large gazebo fixer upper

Customer had limited funds but wanted the structure made sound. Roof and flooring replaced and structure reinforced. Hex floor was fantastic fun!

Hexagonal gazebo

Customer had an existing structure which was replaced apart from the oak uprights which they wished to keep. Customer happened to have a wood lathe on site so we turned a custom finial at the roof boss and leaded the boss. One side has a lift up service hatch so that food can be served from the back to the other section of the customer’s garden.
